As John is a versatile, adaptable speaker and “frontman” – why not make better use of his time? If your event is part of a conference featuring other speakers – as John is “there anyway” a cost effective solution may be to ask him to make more than one contribution!
For example – he can deliver a thought provoking daytime keynote … and also speak after dinner – as both are very different in content and style.
He can also act as a conference host – deliver a keynote – introduce speakers – make a funny after-dinner speech – and host your awards!
Here’s some feedback from a conference where he did exactly that – a 9 a.m. keynote and an after-dinner speech in the evening:
“Thank you so much for your great contribution to the HEBCoN conference last week; immediate feedback has been absolutely fantastic. Your morning presentation chimed exceedingly well with Ian McKechnie’s on sales and persuasion which was very satisfying. As Chair of HEBCoN I was encouraging members to look at the problems of promoting business continuity from a different angle and your presentation on ‘Restless Curiosity’ put the day into perspective.
Your after dinner speech was a great success too with folk still talking about it over breakfast. Many many thanks.”
Michael Stephens’ Head, Safety, Security and Resilience

John’s versatility can be used in many other ways – he is happy to “multi task” as the following examples indicate:
1) Best Western Hotels: workshop developing Customer Service and Staff Motivation. John delivered a Keynote, facilitated breakouts, collated Feedback and Followed up after 6 weeks! Read more HERE
2) Pipeline Industries Guild: Presentation Skills Masterclass followed by after-dinner speech at annual dinner.
John led an interactive a workshop for 8 Regional Chairmen focusing on presentation skills for business leaders. He then followed this with an after-dinner speech in the evening – where his “pupils” were all in the audience – seeing him put his teachings into practice!
Here’s what the Director General had to say:
“Thank you for a tremendous performance on Friday. The morning session on Presentation Skills for our Branch Chairmen was extremely well received and the participants have said that we should continue our relationship with you so that we can have similar sessions in the future. The evening session for 350 diners has gone down with everyone as the best after-dinner speech that they have attended. Well deserved…”
Richard Glennister, Director General, Pipeline Industries Guild
3) Stapletons Tyre Services: Combining roles of Conference Host, Keynote Speaker, Workshop and Plenary Session Facilitator, Senior Management interviewer – plus evening entertainment as after-dinner speaker.
Event: National Sales conference for a major Japanese owned tyre distributor
Venue: Day: Heart of England Conference Centre, Meriden; Evening: The Belfry
Audience: 120 sales, distribution and back office staff
Brief: to take charge of the whole event as Host and MC; deliver innovation keynote “Restless Curiosity”; facilitate innovation workshop session; host plenary Q&A/feedback session with senior management to discuss findings; summarise the day – then at the post conference dinner deliver a 40 minute humorous after-dinner speech in which the names, hobbies and interests of all 120 delegates were memorised and mentioned in the speech!
“We very much appreciated your input into both the conference and evening, we have received nothing back great feedback on your contributions to both parts. Thank you again for all your hard work and effort put into the conference, it definitely bought a new dimension and is something we hope to continue for next year!”
Rebecca Reay, Marketing Manager, Stapletons Tyre Services
“You did a great job – thanks for everything it was really appreciated – your memory is just awesome!”
Dave Lea, Dealership Sales Director, STS
